Hi again kcpau. Don't worry, I don't think it's a simple question! If you want to set up a forum then you will need to:

• Run the Forum module
• Create a plugin using the Forum module, and put this plugin on a page somewhere
• Initially the plugin will not output anything
• Click on the plugin's menu and then choose the "Create a Forum here" option

That will create a forum on your site. You can optionally link two more pages to the forum; one for viewing a thread and one for creating a new thread. To do this:

• Put the forum plugin on another page
• Click on the plugin's menu and then choose the "Use this page as part of an existing Forum" option
• Select whether this page should be a "View thread" or a "New thread" page
• Select your original page from the picker

To be perfectly honest the interface here isn't anywhere near as friendly as it could be. It's been a little while since we last reviewed how this works. Sorry about that ^_^;;
