We have made this handy quick start guide on what to expect when you first install Zenario and how to go about setting up some basic elements of a website.
What to expect once installed
Once you have completed the installation procedure and logged into your new website, you will be greeted with a few sample web pages.
These pages are designed to demonstrate which modules can be used to create different elements on a page.
Creating a new page
Web pages on Zenario are called "content items" and these can come in a variety of types, such as news or vacancy. A standard web page is an HTML page and this is what is going to be created.
There are several ways to create a page, but we will focus on working with the front-end of the site.
Firstly you need to click on the Menu tab at the top of the admin toolbar. This will allow you to edit the menu nodes and menu structure.
Once the tab is selected the content item will look slightly different. Some elements may be faded out and a new icon will appear next to the site menu.
This yellow icon, when clicked, will allow you to quickly create a menu node in that position in the menu. It will also allow you to create an HTML page for the node as well.
Once clicked a pop-up admin box will appear:
As you can see the "Quick-create an HTML page" button is selected the browser title of "Third Page" has been added. The alias and menu node text are automatically populated with what the browser title is, these can be manually edited if needed.
Click save and then you will be taken to your new page.
Editing text
Now that we have our new page, the next step is to populate it with text. To do this click the "Edit" tab on the admin toolbar (next to the Menu tab).
You will once again notice that some elements are faded and some are highlighted, this means that anything that isn't faded can be edited and will only affect this content item.
The WYSIWYG editor can be clearly seen below, simply double-clicking in the red box or clicking on the pencil icon will enable you to edit.
A new set of tools will then display near the top of the screen. These are the basic text editing tools that you can use to manipulate any text, links, or images.
Then enter the appropriate text and click save.
If a WYSIWYG editor is unpopulated it will be hidden from view to visitors.
Adding a logo on a layout
For some situations, such as a company logo, you will want to have a plugin that shows on every page on a certain layout. To be able to do this you need to click on the "Layout" tab at the top of the admin toolbar. As before the elements that are on the layout will be highlighted.
Inserting a plugin
This is how to add a plugin at the layout level, which will appear on all pages using this layout.
By default the slots, that is the areas that plugins can be inserted, are hidden on the page. In order to view these unused slots you must click the "Show empty slots" button:
The slots will then be visible.
To add a plugin click on the green plus icon when moving your mouse over the red box.
You will then see a list of options.
All of the options listed except for "Insert plugin from library" are "version controlled" plugins. For example if a Banner was inserted into this slot, an empty Banner would appear on all pages on the layout. The content of the Banner however will only be shown on this one content item.
In order to show the Banner and it's content (such as a company logo) on all of the pages using this layout you need to choose a library plugin.
Once clicked on you will be shown a screen that lists all of the modules using library plugins.
Click on the folder icon (we've chosen Banner)
Then select or create a new plugin and click insert.
Your Banner and it's content will then be shown on all on the pages using the same layout.
Please note that this is using Zenario 7.0.4b. The user experience may differ if using a different version.
