Zenario handles every kind of content appropriately.
This is the default type of content for a site.
Content items are usually linked with a menu node, so that visitors and extranet users can use menu navigation to reach them. But this is not mandatory and "orphan" content items can be kept on the site, reachable by their alias-based URL or in a search result.
Every content item can be either public or password-protected.
Every content item has a life cycle: starting as a draft it can be viewed and edited privately by administrators. When published, it becomes available to regular site visitors or extranet users. When edited again a further draft is made, and after re-publishing with changes it's possible for administrators to go back and review archived versions. Finally, content items can be trashed, taking them offline, and permanently when the trash is emptied.
News items have a "release date", and they can display the name of the writer.
When displaying several News, it's common to display most recent ones automatically on the home page, and then a full list of them on an archive page (grouped by year or other date range, if need be).
Writers can be stored in a central managed area, and these can be people who are administrators (why may edit articles directly), or who may be external people whose name the site will display. Writer profiles can have photos, brief biographies, and links to the writers' websites.
It's easy to create Categories (with sub-categories if required), and then to put News items into those categories. When listing News in a Content Summary List (CSL), Categories can be used as a filter, so that you have appropriate listings in different parts of a site.
Blog items are much like news, but can be stored in a separate area and styled differently.
Documents are treated in the same way as other content items, in that they can be public or password protected, given dates and categories, and so on. But in addition they have one or two file attachments.
The most common usage is with a single file attachment. An administrator may simply drag and drop one or multiple files into the Document content items panel in Organizer. The Documents get created instantly in draft form.
Zenario attempts to make a thumbnail image of the first page of the file (PDF format is supported), and it saves a textual extract of the file (PDF and Word® formats supported).
The benefit of this is that lists of documents can be enriched by showing an image, date, title, summary and other information about the file, and Zenario's powerful on-site Search system efficiently scans document content when a visitor is searching for something.
Where a site needs to display both a small and a large copy of the same file — for example, a PDF file, backed up by a large source file made in Photoshop® — the large file can be stored in Amazon Web Services' S3 file service.
Much like Documents, Zenario can store audio files, making them available as public or private content items, with categories and more.
Videos are supported too, but not as content items; Zenario has its own Videos Manager system that makes it easy to display single videos or a while library.
Zenario is an ideal CMS for promoting events, whether they are real-world events (such as conferences, meetings, product launches), or held online.
Events have a start and end date, and can have start and end times.
As well as listing them, Zenario can present events on a calendar, with easy access to view more information.
If linked with Zenario's Locations system, real-world events can have information about where they are being held, including displaying a map of how to get there.
